elders of the douglass hills church of Christ

In the New Testament, Elders led and watched over a local congregation of God’s people (Acts 14:23; Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:1-3). These are men who meet certain qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-7) and agree to serve in this important role. The Douglass Hills church is blessed with five good men who devote much of their time to the needs of the flock.

“Having been appointed as an elder in 1976, it has been a privilege to serve the Douglass Hills church. The focus of our family here is to follow God’s word and be lights in this community. My goal is to help and encourage every member of this church on our journey to heaven.”

“I have been a member of the Lord's body at Douglass Hills since 1986, when my wife and I first obeyed the gospel. After serving several years as a deacon, I was appointed as an elder in August 2007. My 30 years of experience in human resources, along with some of the other things I have experienced in my life, helps me in my role as an elder. My goal in working with this local body is to help others go to heaven when our brief, temporary life in this world is over.”

“I've been a member at Douglass Hills since 1988.  I've served as an elder since 1994. I serve as an elder because I believe I have a responsibility to use my abilities, whatever they happen to be, to help others and myself get to heaven. Being an elder doesn't make me any more important than any other member. It is simply a role thatI believe I am qualified to fill and have the responsibility to fill.”

“I have been serving the Douglass Hills congregation as an elder since February 1996. My view of this work is clearly framed by what the Word of God says in 1 Timothy 3; my work is not to originate but to guide, oversee, shepherd, and lead by example along with the other elders. I am humbled by the fact that elders are charged with guiding the spiritual well-being of other Christians within the parameters of Scripture.  This work is challenging and exciting because opportunities present themselves to serve God and others.”
